T 72 Terminator
The Russian Ministry of Defense decided the fate of the unique tank support combat vehicle (BMPT) Terminator in November 2021. After long trials, BMPT units appeared in two tank regiments of the 90th Panzer Division (TD). In the future, BMPTs may also appear in motorized rifle regiments of this form. Previously, BMPT terminals were tested and combat-proven on urban, mountain and anti-tank vehicles.

The BMPT is the tank's "companion" and is primarily designed to destroy enemy troops and weapons so that the tank can concentrate on destroying armored targets.
In the 1980s, Soviet designers began to create special tanks with significantly different weapons to defeat troops and light armor at close range. Long-barreled cannons were replaced by automatic cannons, grenades, automatic and rocket systems.
The Russian army is not ready to modify the structure of the tank army and the strategy of using a type of military equipment. Therefore, the development of these types of vehicles was slow during the Soviet era, and even more so in the 90s.
But the experience of local wars, especially in Chechnya, where tanks were forced to enter residential areas, took part in fierce battles, during which it was sometimes enough to successfully hit an RPG-7 to destroy an expensive and valuable vehicle. It is impossible to predict such a shot and the challenge of stopping it.

BMPT received renewed support in 2010 as a "breakthrough development". The development of strange technology was slow - the new "half tank" looked dangerous, but there was no clear idea of what to do with it.
In 2017, the final joined the war in Syria. The results are still classified, but the cause of BMPT is easy to predict. By 2018, three generations of the vehicle had been built, and finally, in 2021, the latest design, the 9 BMPT, entered service.
Uralvagonzavod (UVZ, Rostec) BMPT is built on T-72 or T-90 tank chassis. The latest Terminal-2 is built on the T-90 chassis. The turret houses combat modules including two 30 mm 2A42 automatic cannons (850 rounds), a 7.62 mm PKTM machine gun (a modern Kalashnikov machine gun with 2,100 rounds) and an Ataka-T guided weapon system. Attack anti-tank missiles include ATGMs with integrated HEAT warheads (9M120-1) and high-explosive high-explosive warheads (9M120-1F).
The turret also has a laser projector for the commander's panoramic view, a TV channel and a thermal imaging channel.

In the future, it may have a 57 mm 2A91 cannon - AU220M Baikal, and may be integrated with an unmanned aerial vehicle and Armata chassis. Armor penetration with the 57 mm 2A91 gun can destroy most combat vehicles present on the battlefield. Many other ammunition for this weapon can successfully destroy other enemy targets.
The BMPT crew consists of five men: a commander, a driver, a gun operator and two operators. Accordingly, the machine has more "eyes" to monitor the situation than the tank. Additionally, the Terminator's gun has an elevation angle that allows it to fire, for example, at the top floors of buildings, where tanks cannot. Therefore, BMPTs are indispensable in urban and rough terrain combat operations.
"In terms of combat effectiveness, one BMPT replaces 2 BMPs and one motorized rifle squad," Uralvagonzavod said in a press release.
The BMPT is more expensive than a tank, requires more manpower, lacks reliable armor, and lacks a 125mm gun compared to a tank. Experts disagree on its future use.

At the same time, in the future, the Armata platform can solve the existing problems of the BMPT.
With the Armata concept, the Russian military is moving towards full-time units such as motorized rifle and tank companies and combat modules combining combat and support vehicles.
According to some experts in Russia, the composition of the minimum tactical module could be as follows: one or two T-14 Armata tanks, two or three T-15 heavy infantry fighting vehicles, and a fire engine with 57 equipped combat modules. -mm gun, combat vehicle equipped with 152 mm cannon, combat vehicle and support vehicle.
Such a unit has higher capabilities than traditional motorized rifle and tank units, and most importantly, equal mobility and protection on the battlefield.
Which Tree Will The Bmpt Terminator Go?
A global Japan-UK reciprocity agreement will be signed, with the F-X fighter joining the British Tempest under the GCAP

It is an armored fighting vehicle (AFV) designed and manufactured by the Russian company Uralvagonzavod. The vehicle is designed to support tanks and other AFVs in urban areas. BMPT is officially known as "Terminator" by its makers. This city is heavily armed and equipped to survive the war. The AFV is armed with four 9M120 anti-missile launchers, two 30mm 2A42 autocannons, two AG-17D-class launchers and one 7.62mm PKTM machine gun.
The BMPT is built on the chassis of the widely used T-72 main battle tank. The BMPT was designed based on combat experience gained during the Soviet-Afghan War and the First Czech War. Prior to the design of the curved BMPT, prototypes of various types of tank support combat vehicles were developed. Item 199 "Ramka" was later designated as the modern BMPT, official manufacturer Uralvagonzavod. As of late 2013, BMPT's sole operator is Kazakhstan.
Some have been handed over to the Russian military for evaluation since 2005. The Russian Ministry of Defense finally ordered the BMPT in August 2017.

Deliveries of more than 10 vehicles began in early 2018. On December 1, 2021, the first BMPT company with nine combat vehicles was incorporated into one of the tank regiments of the tank division of the Central Military District.
An example of an "upgraded" version of the BMPT-72 was reported on May 18, 2022 to have been used by the Russian military in the Battle of Severodonetsk, Ukraine.
During the Grozny War (1994-95), infantry fighting vehicles like the BMP-2 (pictured) proved inadequate for urban warfare.
The development history of the BMPT can be traced back to the Soviet-Afghan War. Combat experience during the war showed that the BMP-2 and BMP-2-like infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) could not fully cope with infantry despite the BMP-2's superior altitude. Although main battle tanks (MBTs) have a high amount of firepower, the height and angle of depression of the main gun make them easy targets in mountainous and urban areas. In the 1980s, the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant began designing prototypes of the new concept, the first prototypes being Item No. 781, Item No. 782, and Item No. 787. The need for a new car concept was proven. The main requirements for this new vehicle are greater firepower, elevation and depression angles, and safety equivalent to the MBT. An additional requirement to complement the latter was increased protection against close-range hand-held RPGs.
Russian “terrifying” Terminator Tank Makes Combat Debut In Ukraine
The need for such a vehicle became even more evident during the First Czech War. The Russian army, which had been using reliable weapons during urban sieges, suffered heavy losses in manpower and equipment during the First Battle of Grozny, including the destruction of the Balloon Mechanized Brigade. Although these losses cannot be blamed on technology obsolescence, it is becoming clear that specialized anti-personnel vehicles provide valuable assistance in urban dispersal. Self-propelled anti-aircraft guns were used as a temporary solution in Chechnya. However, these are cars
