Trx Ignition Edition - Most monster trucks are limited to fields and closed roads, but the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX can be used on public roads. Essentially a regular Ram 1500 on steroids, the upgraded TRX is significantly wider and uses a supercharged V-8 that makes 702 horsepower. Sure, there are models with more powerful Hellcat engines, but other stock pickups don't seem to eat a pack of monsters, hitting 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. The 450-hp Ford F-150 Raptor is the TRX's only real competitor, but it's not a fair fight until the 700-hp Raptor R arrives. Still, it has to compete with the Ram Ram's incredibly luxurious interior and excellent handling, earning it a 10Best award and a spot on the Editors' Choice list. Living with the 2022 Ram TRX isn't all

But decent jokes, because maneuvering in traffic jams or parking lots can cause anxiety, and refueling often becomes routine. Then again, no one said owning a monster was easy.

Trx Ignition Edition

For 2022, Ram is introducing a new limited edition Ignition Edition to the TRX lineup. With only 875 examples set to hit the streets, the TRX's distinctive bright orange paint makes it even more recognizable. Special matte graphics and black 18-inch wheels are finished. Inside, orange and copper accents are contrasted on the floor mats, center console badges and interior trim. Wondering how much one of these supercars costs? They start at $93,280, but come loaded with features like front and rear seats, leather upholstery and micro-hydraulic steering. The $100.80 Sandblast Edition is also new for 2022, with a Level 2 equipment package, full Mojave Sand paint and unique 18-inch wheels.

Ram 1500 Trx Ignition Edition Fires Up

Although the TRX starts at just north of $74,000, it's a great truck for the money. While the base version is certainly fully equipped, it lacks some features that we'd expect it to come standard with. For example, a heated steering wheel and heated front seats cost extra, otherwise only available with the Level 1 package, which raises its price by about $78,000, but brings a host of upgrades. Features include leather-trimmed seats, luggage compartment lighting, a flat-bottom steering wheel wrapped in leather and micro leather, and storage compartments under the rear seats. We maximize the pickup's towing capacity with this option along with the Trailer-Tow package.

Hidden beneath the TRX's sleek grille and engine is a 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V-8. Dubbed the Hellcat engine, this particular version produces 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque automatically, sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed transmission. In our testing, the TRX hit 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and hit 110 mph in 12.3 seconds. This happens to be the fastest pickup we've ever tested. Despite its heavy curb weight and large footprint, the Hellcat Ram is surprisingly refined and easy to drive on paved roads. Still, its supercharged V-8 is ready to deliver thrilling sounds from the rear. Of course, the TRX is also designed to play in mud, rocks, and sand. Along with a reinforced steel frame, it features reinforced suspension designed to flex and lock with over 13 inches of travel. It rolls on 35-inch all-terrain tires mounted on 18-inch wheels, contributing to the truck's 11.8 inches of ground clearance. Rach says the half-ton Hellcat also measures 32 inches in depth. Each TRX is equipped with Brink trucks, Blitzen remote control shocks, an electronic locking rear differential, and ample underbody protection to protect the 15.0-inch brakes. What else?

Although the TRX can't tow as much as some Ram models, now priced at £12,750, it can still tow quite a bit of money. It has a maximum towing capacity of 8,100 pounds (100 pounds more than the F-150 Raptor), and it can carry a payload of 1,310 pounds (80 pounds less than the Ford).

The TRX is rated at 10 mph in the city and a not-so-good 14 mph on the highway. Those numbers are significantly lower than the Raptor's, which is rated at 15 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway. We tested the TRX on our 75mm Fuel Economy line as part of our extensive testing regime, and clocked 13km of highway. For more information on TRX fuel economy, visit the EPA website.

The 2022 Ram 1500 Trx Ignition Edition Adds Orange Color And Raises Price To $93k

Ram has redefined expectations for truck interiors with its latest half-ton pickups, featuring luxurious materials and impeccable noise isolation. That level of luxury and detail looks set to continue on the TRX, which is offered as a crew cab with a short cargo bed. Inside, the base model's cloth top and standard equipment are based on the Ram 1500 Rebel. However, the optional TR1 and TR2 packages give the cabin a more luxurious look and feel with a combination of leather upholstery and microfibre and carbon fiber elements. The TRX has a pair of prominent paddle shifters on the flat-bottom steering wheel, but there's also a floor-mounted switch on the center console. Top options for the TRX include a digital rearview mirror, head-up display, heated and ventilated front seats.

The 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system on every TRX sits vertically in the center of the dashboard. The unit offers Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, in-dash navigation and SiriusXM satellite radio. The screen can be split into separate menus so you can open multiple apps at once, and the screen has physical knobs and buttons for more direct control. The truck is also equipped with a powerful Harman Kardon sound system capable of 900 watts and 19 speakers.

Ram packs its most powerful pickup truck with a host of driver-assistance technologies, including a feature that makes it easier to crash into a truck. Limited ram and transmission warranties apply to all competitors except Nissan, which covers the longer period: five years or 100,000 miles. However, Ram does not offer free maintenance like Chevy, GMC and Toyota. Over the past few months, we've been analyzing the various new models and special editions of the 2022 Ram 1500. One of the most exciting special editions of the new model year has to be the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX Ignition Edition. Only 975 high-performance SUVs are being built with the special color scheme, and over the past few days RAM dealers have taken delivery of Apex's latest Hellcat predator.

Inside, the Ignition Edition gets orange stitching and a TRX logo embroidered on the seat. Orange badges on the center console, a copper carbon fiber accent pack and special orange tweeters round out the interior color scheme. The 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system now supports faster Uconnect 5. The package includes a Heads-Up Display (HUD), a panoramic sunroof, and Mopar weather-stripping floor mats with orange Ram badges instead of the traditional red. Additional pedestrian emergency braking is standard with an ignition switch.

Ignition Orange was previously featured on the limited-edition 2017 Ram 1500 Sport and 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Express. The Ram 1500 TRX Ignition Edition has a US Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $91,585 with $1,695 destination. For Canadians, the starting MSRP for the Ignition version is $125,750, $2,795.
